Omphalos

Delphi- Copy of the Omphalos - Treasury of the Athenians. Ancient Greeks regarded Delphi as the navel, or centre of Mother Earth (Ge). Major cities had treasuries at Delphi along the Sacred Way leading to the Temple of Apollo. Pilgrims would stop to make offerings at their treasury before continuing to the shrine.
