1) Antioch Antioch in Syria. The present Syrian town has no resemblance to the magnificent Antioch, known as 'The Heathen Queen' - great centre of commerce, administration, and Hellenic culture. An early photograph. 2) Baalbec Collection of pictures. 3) Bosora Part of the central street of the city of Bosora which lies about twenty miles south of Damascus. Judas Maccabeus and his brother Jonathan captured it (l. Macc. v, 28). An early photograph. 4) Byblos Gebal, today known as Jebeil and under the Greeks it was Byblos. The latter name gave us the word 'Bible' owing to Byblos' fame for the manufacture of papyrus writing material. An early photograph. 5) Damascus The street called Straight in Damascus. Paul was told to go here to meet Ananias when he had been blinded. The street runs east to west through the whole ancient city.
